The nine-banded armadillo has slowly moved from South & Central America to colonize North America. The first reports of armadillos in Arkansas were in the 1920's.

The Arkansas River Valley sits between the Quachita Mountains to the South and the Ozark Mountains to the North. Noted for its "Tri-Peaks" (Petit Jean Mountain, Mount Nebo, and Mount Magazine) the River Valley is home to fertile farmlands, diverse countryside, and lush forests. The people, wildlife, and natural beauty of the Arkansas River Valley are the subjects of these photos.
